VetBiz Mentor Agreement (Template)
How VetBiz mentors operate — the contract every mentor signs.
This is the full template. The version you e-sign during onboarding is filled with your selections from the application above (track, format, commitment, rate, methodology).
1. Parties
This Mentor Services Agreement is between VetBiz Network, Inc. (“VetBiz”) and the individual or entity (“Mentor”) identified in the application.
2. Services
Mentor will provide guidance, advice, introductions, and review services (“Mentorship Services”) to VetBiz members (“Mentees”) in the track, format, and cadence specified in the application:
- Track and topics covered
- Session formats (1:1, office hours, cohort, async)
- Monthly time commitment
- Mentor’s stated methodology
3. Compensation & Payment
Mentor will be paid according to the compensation model selected in the application:
- Pro bono — Mentor donates time. VetBiz issues a year-end contribution statement.
- Credit — Mentor receives VetBiz platform credits at parity with their stated hourly rate.
- Paid — Mentor sets an hourly rate. VetBiz collects payment from the Mentee, retains a 10% platform fee, and pays the remainder via Stripe Connect on a monthly schedule.
4. Confidentiality
Both parties will treat business, financial, and personal information shared during sessions as confidential and will not disclose it without written consent.
5. Conflict Of Interest
Mentor will disclose any commercial relationships that could create a conflict of interest with a Mentee, including ownership of competing businesses, board seats, or fee-paying engagements with the Mentee’s competitors.
6. Intellectual Property
Mentor retains rights to teaching materials they create independently. Mentee retains all rights to their business, products, and strategy. Mentor agrees not to use Mentee’s confidential information for personal advantage.
7. Conduct & Standards
Mentor agrees to abide by the VetBiz Code of Conduct: be on time, be prepared, give direct and constructive feedback, and avoid recruiting, selling unrelated services, or pressuring mentees into commercial relationships.
8. Term & Termination
This agreement is month-to-month with a minimum engagement specified in the application. Either party may terminate with 14 days’ written notice. Mentor remains a member of the VetBiz mentor network after individual engagements conclude.
9. Independent Contractor
Mentor is an independent contractor, not an employee of VetBiz or any Mentee. Mentor is responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and professional licensing.
10. Disputes
Disputes are first addressed by VetBiz program staff. Unresolved disputes proceed to binding arbitration under AAA commercial rules.
